A letter from our executive director
It's clear that housing markets are broken – even ones that worked just five years ago – and that we are living in a time of great upheaval and change. What is also clear is the need for Habitat for Humanity’s work. There is a housing affordability crisis in our community, and Habitat’s mission is as important as ever.
Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope. These words in Habitat’s mission statement are lived out every day across our community and around the world. We build with volunteers and future homeowners with varying backgrounds, beliefs and stories to tell. Where some may see these differences as difficult gaps to cross, Habitat serves as a bridge, uniting people to champion the cause of housing affordability.
When other forces try to divide us through fear and hate, Habitat brings people together. We know that the things that connect us will always be stronger than what might separate us. We choose to love our neighbors. We choose to stand up for one another. We choose joyfully invite supporters and partners of all backgrounds to our work.
You have already demonstrated solidarity with your neighbors and love for your community. Today, I’m asking you to deepen your commitment by joining Habitat’s Carpenters Club with a monthly donation.
Carpenters Club members understand what partnership looks like. They know it takes every single one of us to build a world where everyone has a decent place to call home. When you give monthly and join Carpenters Club, you help make this vision a reality for families in the Capital District. Your monthly gift sustains year-round homebuilding efforts, guaranteeing the funds needed to buy construction materials and continue building alongside our neighbors.
Will you join this important work with a monthly donation?
Together, we are building what Dr. Martin Luther King Jr often described as a Beloved Community. We are demonstrating what is possible when caring people come together in service of a common vision. Thank you for being a vital part of this community.
In partnership,
Christine Schudde
Executive Director
PS – If you’re not ready to commit to a monthly donation, can you make a generous one-time donation today to keep us building through the winter months
