Every day, thousands of volunteers around the world gather at Habitat construction sites to help build a better world.

When will your team join them?

Team builds are an opportunity for your company, organization, faith congregation, school or other community group to help advance a shared vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to live. Habitat’s Team Build programs give your group an opportunity to learn new skills, strengthen relationships and engage with their community in a meaningful way.

Your build day, combined with your team donation, will build a legacy of leadership and compassion.

Your Team Build will include:

  • Exclusive volunteer opportunity for your team

  • All the equipment & training your team will need for the day’s tasks

  • Habitat volunteer t-shirts for every team member

  • Social media shout out (organization’s account tagged)

Team Build Basics

  • When available, team build dates will be announced to our email subscribers, on social media, and here on this page.

  • Team build sponsorships require a minimum donation of $1,000 per team. Team build day donations can be made here and also made at the bottom of this page. Instructions for offline giving are at the bottom of this page, too.

  • To ensure everyone has a meaningful and engaging task, we limit teams to up to 10 volunteers. Once your Team Build is reserved, we will send you instructions for your team members to sign up.

  • When your team arrives on site, you will watch a short safety video and get an overview of the day’s tasks. Our professional site managers will teach you how to safely work with us, and will be there every step of the way!

Why do you ask teams to donate?

We ask your team to match your volunteer impact with a financial contribution to help cover our cost to host volunteers, including to train & supervise volunteers, buy building materials for your build day, and arrange a meaningful, productive and safe volunteer experience for your team. Every house that Habitat builds costs upwards of $280,000, so we are incredibly grateful for our generous supporters. All donations are fully tax deductible.

We’ve found that the groups who sign up for Team Builds are enthusiastic about bolstering their volunteer labor with a financial contribution. We also regularly welcome groups who choose to donate more than the standard $1,000 amount, in recognition of the skyrocketing costs of construction.

Funds can be raised by individuals, donated by companies, or made through matching funds and other grants. Community groups (from congregations, schools, civic groups, and others looking to volunteer as a group) are asked to make a good-faith effort to fundraise a goal of $1,000.

What does a typical team build day look like?

Team Builds begin promptly at 9 am and end by 3 pm. Our build sites operate Monday - Friday. Street parking is available, but we encourage carpooling, walking/biking or using public transportation when possible. Teams are welcomed by a Habitat site supervisor, who will also instruct your team in safety, assign tasks, and teach all necessary skills. At lunch time, team members can share what they have been up to before going back to work and ending the day by 3 pm.
